From Corporate to Conscious

From the light of my sol to yours, welcome to the very first issue of the copy.solfully newsletter! I'm thrilled to be launching this platform to more deeply connect with you all. We share a passion for conscious consumerism and impactful storytelling.
And I look forward to engaging with you in comments, notes, and in other gentle substack spaces of connection.
My journey to copy.solfully was by no means clear cut. Writing has been with me all my life: I’m an avid journaler, poet, fiction writer, essayist. And, at one time, I wanted to be a book author.
But, it was drilled into me to be “practical.” To get a good “got-to-have.” And writing books wasn’t going to cut it.
So, I took all of my pent up literary passion and entered the world of copywriting while in college. At first, the successes I had were enough to assuage the literary longing. That is, until the successes turned sour.
Slowing Down the Pace
I thought thriving in the fast-paced world of corporate copywriting was sexy. I loved the thrill of being divergent, flexible, adaptable, able to shape to the vision of any client, ranging from banking to fintech industries.
Crafting compelling messages for household brands was exhilarating; but, in the end, unfulfilling. My words were selling products, yes, but were they truly making a difference? Did I matter beyond how quickly I could spin out an email?
When I started researching the environmental impact of the industries I was writing for, my words began to appear like mercenaries. I slowly retreated from the scene and found work in the safer company of preschoolers.
But, still, I craved meaning, finding something that would make me jump out of bed in the morning. I dreamed of using the full range of my artistic and creative abilities, to make a positive impact, to feel that I belonged, and commit to something that aligned with my values. I wasn’t being authentic… I was being practical. And I was sputtering out.
So, it was time for a change.
Solful Awakenings
That's how the seed of Solfully was sown. I envisioned a space where my copywriting talents could empower eco-conscious brands. I wanted to craft words that not only resonated with consumers, but also inspired them to make sustainable choices practically and mindfully.
This newsletter is an extension of that vision. Here, we'll not only explore the exciting world of eco-conscious copywriting, dissect industry trends, and share success stories of brands making a positive impact…we’ll also come full circle back to eco-conscious values and philosophy.
I joined substack to make sure my voice didn’t get lost in the voices I’m writing for, to build a community, and promote meaningful conversation around this burgeoning field.
